Drawing is a good way for your child to practice and prepare for writing later. Putting their thoughts on paper is an important skill for your child to develop.

When your child is drawing, look for things you like about their drawing and say, for example: “I like the way you’ve drawn the cat’s big tummy.” Or “I like how you’ve tried to draw the cat’s long tail.” Praise and encourage your child’s attempts at drawing because this will make them feel confident and willing to keep trying. The more they practice, the better they will become, so keep encouraging them.

Let op na dinge waarvan jy hou terwyl jou kind teken. Sê byvoorbeeld: “Ek hou van die manier waarop jy die kat se groot maag geteken het.” Of “Ek hou van hoe jy probeer het om die kat se lang stert te teken.” Prys jou kind se pogings om te teken en moedig dit aan, want dit sal hulle selfvertroue gee en hulle sal bereid wees om aan te hou probeer.
