Have fun counting with your child. Encourage your child to use their fingers when they count.

Children are sometimes able to count numbers out aloud but they don’t always understand the value of the number that they are counting. A good way to help your child understand the value of a number is to let them use their fingers.
Hold a finger up and say, “1” and encourage your child to copy you.
Then ask your child to show you 1 finger.
You can say, “Yes that’s 1 finger and this is 1 nose.” Your child can keep showing you one finger as they find the single objects in the picture story.
