Learning to listen to a set of instructions is a skill that needs lots of practice.

There are many parts to the instructions for this activity, for example: ‘Draw 2 children in the bed, 4 shoes under the bed, 11 books on the table, and a dog next to the chair.’ To help your child, read the instructions through once slowly. Then read each part of the instructions making sure your child understands them. This will give your child an idea of how large to draw the items in the room. To further help your child, you could use furniture in your own home to work out the positions of the objects to be drawn.
