Message 4

To read and write, children need to be able to see the similarities and differences between letters. Children get to develop this skill when they compare two pictures and identify what is different between the two.

Follow the instructions and play the Shape spot the difference game with your child. If your child struggles to see the differences, guide them by saying something like, “Look, this train has two smoke circles. What’s different about the smoke circles of the other train?” Spotting the difference between objects will help your child recognise the differences between letters like ‘b’ and ’d’.

Ukuze bakwazi ukubhala nokufunda abantwana, kufuneka bakwazi ukubona umahluko kunye nezinto ezifanayo koonobumba. Esi sakhono siyaphuhla ebantwaneni xa bethelekisa imifanekiso emibini baze bachonge izinto eyahluke ngazo imifanekiso.

Kinders moet die ooreenkomste en verskille tussen letters kan sien om te kan lees en skryf. Kinders ontwikkel hierdie vaardigheid wanneer hulle twee prente vergelyk en die verskille tussen die twee identifiseer.

Volg die instruksies en speel die Soek die verskille-speletjie met jou kind. As jou kind sukkel om die verskille raak te sien, lei hom deur iets te sê soos, “Kyk, hierdie trein het twee stoomkringe. Hoe verskil dit van die stoomkringe van die ander trein?” Deur die verskille tussen voorwerpe raak te sien, sal jou kind leer om die verskille tussen letters soos ‘b’ en ‘d’ te herken.
